Juarez, Important Border Hub for Logistics and Trade

Ciudad Juarez, Mexico, the birthplace of maquiladoras (export-oriented manufacturing plants that make various products) is the most important industrial market along the U.S.-Mexico border. Hundreds of plants in the area assemble goods for export to the United States and points beyond. 

The main industries in Ciudad Juarez are appliances, medical devices, automotive and electronics, as well as the logistics sector that serves them. A vibrant logistics sector, including distribution warehouses and industrial property, has sprung up to serve the assembly plants. 

Ciudad Juarez and neighboring El Paso comprise the second-largest bi-national metropolitan area on the Mexico-United States border, after Tijuana-San Diego. Three vehicle bridges and one land crossing connect Ciudad Juarez and El Paso, facilitating the flow of trucks and vehicles across the border. Two rail crossings facilitate the transportation of goods across the U.S.-Mexico border.
