Monterrey, Business Capital of Mexico

Monterrey, Mexico, is the capital of the state of Nuevo Leon and the country’s business capital. Nuevo Leon has a GDP per capita nearly three times the national average. The state of Nuevo Leon is home to more than 120 industrial parks, specializing in such industries as logistics services, aerospace, automotive, electronics, appliances and healthcare. A robust network of industrial properties and warehouses supports these operations. 

Monterrey, Mexico ́s third-largest metropolitan area with a population of 4.5 million, is the country’s second most important economic hub after Mexico City. It is a key center for manufacturing. Many of Mexico’s largest and most-influential corporations, including FEMSA and Cemex, are headquartered in Monterrey. The presence of these companies, along with regional headquarters for many multinationals, makes Monterrey a vital economic engine. 

There are 30 universities in Monterrey, including Tecnológico de Monterrey (ITESM) and Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León (UANL). As a result, the area’s workforce is highly educated. 

Monterrey has two international airports and sits astride a network of highways that connect it to the center of Mexico and the US border. Monterrey is an important center for logistics and distribution.
